Target Audience
- Parents and Carers in the Horseracing Industry
- Employers in the Horseracing Industry
Background
The need for 'Racing Home' was identified following a series of engagement events including a symposium, workshops, webinars and follow up research led by Dr Kate Clayton-Hathway of the Centre for Diversity Policy Research and Practice, Oxford Brookes University.
The discussions with participants from all aspect of horseracing were used as a basis to collate experiences of motherhood and parenting of those working in the industry, the findings of which were published in the report 'Racing Home, Working Mothers and the Horseracing Industry' published in November 2020.
Funding from the Racing Foundation and Kindred Group has enabled Women in Racing, supported by Simply Racing, to implement the practical and educational recommendations from the report. This includes the development of the 'Racing Home' digital resource which provides online access to generic and racing-specific information and good practice related to motherhood/parenthood.
